The Spectrum Band
Spectrum is the intermediate band that accepts musicians that have reached a reasonable standard, usually Grade 2 practical. Most members work toward further musical exams, not only for personal advancement but also to contribute to improving the band’s overall performance. The Band has a busy programme of engagements playing at fetes and open days as well as entering competitions and music festivals.
The Spectrum and YCB MDs will jointly decide when a player is ready to move up to YCB from SPECTRUM. Once selected, it is the normal procedure for a player to attend both SPECTRUM and YCB until they have passed Grade 4 and are in school Year 10 or above. Any changes from this procedure must be discussed with and agreed with the MDs in the first instance.
